Hello friends!
I'm Lisa, and I do the daydreaming, creating, reading and writing around here. I live in Australia's beautiful bush capital - Canberra, with my husband, 11 year old son, and surprisingly kittenish 18 year old cat, Kali. I was born and raised here, and even though I crave the beach I couldn't really imagine living anywhere else.
I'm a qualified teacher, having taught in ACT public primary schools for over 15 years. I've been writing in one form or another since I was a child and I still have some of the 'books' I wrote in kindergarten. I also still have some of the teenage-angsty diaries and poetry I wrote in the early nineties. It makes me cringe just thinking about some of the first world problems I had as a teenager and how incensed I was about them. At the time I obviously thought they were a big deal. It's all about context, I guess.
I still write poetry, mostly about everything and anything. I've also written a few unpublished short stories, and was a semi-finalist in an international flash fiction competition in 2018. I got my ability and ambition mixed up by attempting a 100,000 word epic novel not so long ago. Hmmm... only 72,000 words to go on that one! It might happen. Really! I'm also some way into writing a YA novel about zombies... eeek!
My debut children's picture book, My Llama Drama, was released in July 2019. You can find it here.
I have also been dabbling in a bit of journal and notebook design. You can check out what I've been doing here.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to check out my website. If you'd like to keep in touch on a more regular basis (with no spam, promise!) you can sign up for my mailing list HERE or hit the big button below.
